STaRS are the club’s weekly Sunday long which occur on different courses, on different courses covering scenic areas in Sydney, including the North Shore, Eastern Suburbs, North West and Inner West. Each STaR has a course map indicating various distance options from 10km to 30km. These runs are ideal for supplementing your training up to the marathon distance.
6am: 20 to 30km group
7am (6:30am during Daylight Savings Period): 10 to 15km group
6am: Pace varies from 4:00 to 7:00 min per km. Participants self seed into groups at the beginning of the run. Groups are strongly encouraged to stick together and look out for each other as per the club’s code of conduct.
7am: 6:00 – 6:30 min per km. This group suits new members, runners returning from injury or those who want to run a shorter distance.
Runs are mostly on roads and pathways. Some runs have a bush component which is indicated on the run maps, and in most cases can be avoided.
Refer to the calendar for the location, host, and maps (pdf and gpx).
STaRs are hosted by club volunteers, who arrive at the start at 5:45am and provide refreshments post run (paid by the club) until 9:30am. It’s a great way to get involved and meet other members. If you can help, please fill in this form or contact calendar@sydneystriders.org.au.
